Abstract

As artificial intelligence(AI)technology rapidly advances, its application in the educational sector, particularly in college English instruction, has introduced disruptive changes to traditional teaching models. This article is grounded in an in-depth analysis of the current demands of college English education and the characteristics of AI technology. It examines and discusses the application of AI in various teaching activities of college English, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with the goal of exploring how AI can more effectively enhance English teaching and learning outcomes. The article begins by reviewing the development and definition of AI technology, followed by an analysis of its current application in college English teaching, including a comparison of domestic and international uses and the main issues encountered. Through specific case studies, the paper delves into the application and impact of intelligent voice recognition and automated essay scoring systems in English listening and writing instruction, revealing the significant potential of AI technology in improving teaching efficiency, personalized instruction, and motivation for learning. Building on this, the paper addresses the problems currently faced by AI technology in English teaching and proposes corresponding application strategies and suggestions. It emphasizes the importance of integrating AI technology with teaching content, the necessity of enhancing teachers' AI skills, and the urgent need to further improve related technical support systems. The article concludes by summarizing the research findings and offering a future outlook on the application of AI technology in college English teaching, highlighting the limitations and deficiencies of the study, with the hope of providing reference and inspiration for subsequent research.
