Abstract

To address the lack of high-quality, up-to-date technology education textbooks and promote STEAM education, comprehensive aquaponics teaching materials were developed to enhance interdisciplinary learning. These materials integrate biology, botany, and engineering, allowing students to design and build automated, IoT-connected aquaponics systems using tools like laser cutters and sensors. Students apply math for precision, analyze environmental data, and explore ecosystem dynamics. The teaching resources, positively received by educators and students, align with the STEAM curriculum framework and will be submitted as open-source materials to the Quality Education Fund. They aim to advance STEAM education in Hong Kong and Mainland China while being showcased at the Learning and Teaching Expo. Future plans include creating videos and e-learning materials to support blended learning and BYOD policies, further fostering STEAM engagement and practical applications.
